About Mashupciti
About 2 years ago, during some random and seemingly forgettable surfing session, I stumble upon something that pretty much change my life. That phrase, “Change my life” may seem a little strong as it is clichéd, how about “Profoundly influenced and bettered my life resulting in me being a happier person and wanting to make those people around me happier as well.” Yeah, I like the sound of that. What happened was, I found an album simply named “2 Many DJs“. No song tracks, no breakdown, just one lengthy non-stop mp3. That album first introduced me into “Mashups”
Unfortunately, as much as I loved this album, with songs criss-crossing into each other, mashing together, mixing genres and artist, I had no idea how to find more. I didn’t even know what to call them or what to search for!
A few weeks later, I once again stumbled into something. I think it was a fellow music enthusiast who sent me this link to some one called DJ Food, and the song “Raiding the 20th Century“. 59 minutes of pure audio heaven, and that was it. I was hooked. So began my journey of depravity into the dark seedy world of Mashups & Bootlegs.
I was quick to find sites like A + D, the bootie cds, AGGRO1 (who slays me), GHP, mashuptown, the list goes on and on. It’s a wonderful and weird world here and I wanted to be a part of it.
After making many CD to give to friends of various mashup compilations, and in getting such positive feedback and interested from them, I figured it was time for me to do something. So I created this, Mashupciti - City of the future, NOW! Well, more like a list of some of my favorite mashups.
So I hope you find what you are looking for here, be that inspiration, a laugh, or just taping your toe to some interesting music.
Cheers
Revy
