Best Cities in America for Live Music

Being in a band can be a great deal of fun, and can take you to great heights if you take the right path. One of the most enjoyable aspects of playing live music is touring. Touring is not only a great way to see the country, but is an essential tool for helping to get your music heard by those who live outside your home town. Some cities in America are more conducive to live music than others, which can make planning a tour somewhat difficult. The following are three of the best cities in America for live music, all of which are more than worth stopping in the next time you’re in the road.

Portland, ME

Portland, ME┬áhas been called a lot of things in recent years; best place to live, most “foodie” town in America etc. One thing that many people don’t realize, however, is that Portland has one of the most supportive live music communities that can be found in the country. With countless unique bands and music venues, there’s always a show to be seen in town. Those who are touring should look into booking a show at Geno’s Rock Club, one of the oldest venues in town that supports live music from both local and touring acts.

Austin, TX

It’s no wonder why South By Southwest is held in Austin, TX; the city is truly one of the most music-centric in the country, if not the world. In Austin, it’s all about the music, and it doesn’t matter which genre you find yourself gravitating towards. Many big bands got their start either living or playing in Austin, as the town is home to a great deal of individuals who have a lot of pull in the industry. If you plan on doing just one good thing for your music career, it should include a stop-off at SXSW in Austin.

Los Angeles, CA

When it comes to culture, it’s difficult to beat Los Angeles, CA. Home to a great deal of historic landmark music venues, LA is one of the best cities in the world to work towards taking a music career to another lovel. Music lessons in LA are among the best in the world, and are more than worth taking if you’re stopping off in the city any time soon.

Live music will always be important, and the above three cities are some of the biggest supporters on the map today.
