Some changes to mashupciti!

So you may have noticed some things have changed around here! I thought I would take this opportunity to provide some insight on what is going on, and why I made some of these decisions, and maybe a peek into the future of mashupciti.

So first off, I was having some formatting issues with the previous “theme”. I’m using WordPress here, and since I have a bunch of postings in my database and I didn’t want to try to port stuff over to a Drupal, Joomla or something that is more of a CMS, I just figured I needed to be a bit more flexible on what I’m wanting to achieve with this. A new theme could allow me to do that, so, welcome to MashupCiti Red!

The old site wasn’t as “Community” centric as I wanted it to be. By that I mean, I want to start integrating some cool API stuff, like the Youtube player and try to make this a hub of sorts. I also wanted to able to play around with RSS feeds from other mashup sites and be able to feature special events, podcasts and other interesting snippets from the internets.

I’m also playing around with some new widgets like the polling on the left and the wall on the right. I found I needed to expand my widget friendly sidebars and split them into two in an attempt to avoid the very long scroll that comes with a single sidebar. This also gives me more space to play around with things like SoundCloud, which is something I’m very excited about.

The Google ads, well what can I say? I’m trying to make a buck and pay for the server, domain etc. I don’t think there is anything to nefarious about that….

The stuff on the bottom is just some extra space to place some stuff some of you may find interesting.

In a nut shell, things are gonna keep moving forward here and I sure would appreciate feedback! There are various ways in doing that, the most easiest is in the the comments as you don’t have to register or anything to leave em. If you have suggestions as to what you would like to see here, please let me know!
