Stifling digital entrepreneurship

I received this newsletter from on Monday, and it starts off like this;

Dear Revy,

I’m sure you don’t want to end up like Megaupload.

If that’s the case, chances are you will understand and probably even like what I’m about to tell you.

Ugh. We’ll see. My first reaction is one that makes me wince and grind my teeth. This is the kind of opener you dread when going to the doctors office when you had a suspicious mole looked at.

It did get me wondering about the chipping away by corporations, industry and government in trying to force the internet into this pleasant, manageable package that can be controlled and manipulated. Something I think the internet is NOT. It’s tentacled beast of chaos, howling with the narwhal that bacons at midnight.

Is this letter a sign of more to come? Of providing excuses on why innovation and creativity is on the loosing side?

It’s made me grumpy.

    More…much much more 😉

    We take the challenge to come and surprise you big time between now & the beginning of next year!!

    What I can tell you is we’re aiming for the next generation of artists and labels to start off on the #rightfoot… Sounds mysterious (yeah, I know we’re good at that ;)): follow us on Twitter or Facebook

    And of course if you want to reach out for thoughts, feedback or simply bitching about all the crap we’ve made you suffer we’re there (and I’m also reachable personally on my Twitter). We hope we’ll find the words (and actions) to seduce you again

    NB: believe me it has not been an easy decision to kill our baby & start from scratch… It is for the better. You have to trust my word on this one, at least for another few months still
