This mashup has such a sweet bluesy rock n rolly kick to the face groove. Man, all I wanna do is strut to this killer. I like to strut. The instrumental really adds some serious ass kicking to this track and you will FEEL that the power of the rock is strong in this one!

Here is a new mashup artist I stumbled on last week. This track has this awesome bubbly bouncyness to it that just makes me wanna fly down the street dancing, kicking my heels up, spreading mashup goodness to all the childrens of da vorld. What can I say about this track? I love everything? Massive Attack should be mashed more often. Not just Tear Drop, but there are LOADS of other awesome tracks that have so much mashuppy potential. In the meantime, I suppose I will just have to make do with the wickedness and audio sweetness from Mr Rusty in Dropkick. Fine by me.

I’m not to sure what to make of this, and I don’t know if you guys are into this kinda thing..BUT! THQ a computer game developer based in the UK(?) is make this new game for the Nintendo Wii called, Band Mashups. I dunno if it has actual mashups, like what we feature here, or if it is something like Rock Band or Guitar Hero but mashup versions, like Smash-up Derby. Regardless, it is an interesting direction, even just to use the “Mashup” word in the name of some commercial product. For the outside world, it means one thing, and for others it will mean something else. Who knows where this will go!!
To quote the THQ peeps;
“Band Mashups takes an innovative approach to the rhythm/action genre by blending music and combat in the ultimate battle of the bands,” said Randy Shoemaker, global brand director, THQ. “Using a rhythm based game-play mechanic, the game delivers 70 over-the-top musical weapons and utilizes the Wii Remote’s functionality to deliver a completely original musical combat experience. This is an old favorite of mine, and may not exactly classify as a mashup in the traditional sense of the word. Or cut up, bastard pop…well maybe that one. Whatever it is it’s a gooder! This is some toe tapping, thigh slapping, club thumping music that deserve a listen to! Good ole John Denver and Party Ben. Nice.

It’s like a slow sexy steam train (?) that is heading your way and there is nothing you can do to stop it, so you might as well just get on board. From Totom, comes a really fantastic mashup! I for one am really surprised how well this works. It maks Timbalands “The Way I are” and makes it kinda sad and serious. Very neat stuff. And today, since it is -49 degrees (°C) outside in my city, Totom gives me all the more reasons to stay in and avoid being frost bit. I’m trying to come up with some cheesy cross over for frostbite and mashups…but nothings coming. You have NO idea how bloody cold it is out here today!

Just some quick announcements regarding the site. The ‘Submit Mashups’ sign at the top is working now. I’ve tested in FireFox, IE 6, 7 so far and it looks good so far! Yay my mad CSS skillz!
Next on the list is this interesting article on the legality of ‘mashups’. While they are mostly talking about video mashups, the same argument is available for music mashups! Pretty cool and worth a read as its a short and straight to the point article. Recut, Reframe, Recycle.
