Glee Cast vs. A+D (Jon Bovi vs. Usher)
I can’t help but smile at this. I love the idea that mashups have become the darling concept of even sitcom culture (maybe just a bit of the bad darling still). At this point, I think if it’s getting the ideas and message out to new ears and minds, then awesome. I hope it inspires and gets people to start googling mashup music and see where it takes them.
The next episode of Glee looks like it may contain a few more mashups! Can’t wait to hear the next Glee Mashup!

glee – mashups in the mainstream
Thursday, October 8th, 2009
So last night, my better half and I were watching this TV show called glee (Jane Lynch is awesome!) and in this particular episode “Vitamin D“, the members of glee club split up into two teams guys vs. girls and performed mashups. Yeah, and they were pretty damn awesome. Pumped full of pseudoephedrine the boys performed It’s My Life/Confessions Part II (Bon Jovi vs. Usher) and it was pretty sweet. The girls, not willing to be out done by the boys, popped some pseudoephedrine and performed Halo/Walking on Sunshine (Beyonce vs. Katrina and the Waves) and it was just as awesome.
I can’t help but smile and laugh a little as the mashup scene is reaching a broader audience now more than ever. What was once this niche underground scene is really starting to grow. Part of me is a little hesitant, but another part is excited to see where this is going to go. Interestingly enough, you can buy these mashups performed on glee on itunes. Have a listen to the preview.
That being said, what do you think about mashups making there way into the mainstream like this? Leave a comment below!
