So I figured I’d better get this over and done with. This particular song brings up all kinds of memories and hazy parties for me and embarrassing moments but I love the flash mob recreation they did for this. If you haven’t seen it yet, it will make its way on the imernets shortly. Can’t find a good video version yet, so I’ll just stick with ‘Arties’ awesome version. What can I say? Just makes me tap my foot. Enjoy!
Glee Cast vs. A+D (Jon Bovi vs. Usher)
I can’t help but smile at this. I love the idea that mashups have become the darling concept of even sitcom culture (maybe just a bit of the bad darling still). At this point, I think if it’s getting the ideas and message out to new ears and minds, then awesome. I hope it inspires and gets people to start googling mashup music and see where it takes them.
The next episode of Glee looks like it may contain a few more mashups! Can’t wait to hear the next Glee Mashup!
Curiouser and curiouser! Further down the rabbit hole we go! Last night the new episode of “glee” once again jumped head first into the world of mashups! The show continues to impress, surprise and tickle in all the right places.
While no actual mashups take place, there is some great discussion ab
out what a mashup is, how it works with two or more seemingly unrelated tracks. The members and teachers attempt to mash together things like Neil Diamonds “Sweet Caroline” with Young MCs “Bust a move”. Or how about Sisqos “The thong song” mashed to “I could have danced all night” from My Fair Lady? Can these songs be mashed?I dunno…but the process of discovery may lead to some interesting revolutions.
Anywhoosil. It was interesting to see this topic come up again, and I’m sure it won’t be going away anytime soon. If anyone cares to try to mash these songs up, let me know what you come up with!
So last night, my better half and I were watching this TV show called glee (Jane Lynch is awesome!) and in this particular episode “Vitamin D“, the members of glee club split up into two teams guys vs. girls and performed mashups. Yeah, and they were pretty damn awesome. Pumped full of pseudoephedrine the boys performed It’s My Life/Confessions Part II (Bon Jovi vs. Usher) and it was pretty sweet. The girls, not willing to be out done by the boys, popped some pseudoephedrine and performed Halo/Walking on Sunshine (Beyonce vs. Katrina and the Waves) and it was just as awesome.
I can’t help but smile and laugh a little as the mashup scene is reaching a broader audience now more than ever. What was once this niche underground scene is really starting to grow. Part of me is a little hesitant, but another part is excited to see where this is going to go. Interestingly enough, you can buy these mashups performed on glee on itunes. Have a listen to the preview.
That being said, what do you think about mashups making there way into the mainstream like this? Leave a comment below!
